For nearly forty years, Dunan village has been a sanctuary for the outcast and the unwanted. Until one day, when the ground begins to shake and smoke rises from the peak of the tallest mountain.

 

Faced with terrifying destruction, Lyselle, the old village founder, and her long-time companion, Selenite, must travel east across the water to elvish lands in search of Selenite’s estranged kin, the Ilvani elves. It is said that only they are powerful enough to protect Dunan from the fury of a volcanic eruption.

 

But the Ilvani are a proud and haughty people, not so easily swayed by the pleas of outsiders. Will an old woman and a disgraced former soldier be able to convince them to send their finest spellcasters into danger to save a village of misfits?
